1908 was a year of new possibilities: Ford introduced the Model T; women competed in the Olympics for the first time; and the Grand Canyon became a national monument. How fitting then that 1908 also commemorates the start of the MTS Allstream story and a century of innovation.

Always an industry leader, MTS Allstream and its predecessor companies have achieved a number of telecom ‘firsts’: from the first telex message in 1956 to delivering Canada’s first national IP trunking solution fifty years later. Over the course of these decades, we have built an astounding track record of success, introducing Canadians to Internet and email service for PDAs and digital cell phones, high definition television service, MPLS-based IP VPNS, and XML network services.

Perhaps the most important evolution for MTS Allstream was its formation in 2004 when two telecom leaders, MTS and Allstream, joined forces to become an industry powerhouse. Since then, our technological contributions to the Canadian communications landscape span from developing new services from digital television that allow subscribers to check their email on their television, to the latest in secure IP-enabled enterprise communications that touch thousands of workers at major businesses across Canada.
